WOMENS HEAD COACHES

Leo has held coaching qualifications in cricket, soccer, athletics and AFL and is passionate about developing and mentoring people whether in a professional or sporting environment.  His coaching philosophy centres around creating the best opportunities for his players to thrive and improve,  which in turn leads them to success.

Leo says the number one attraction for him as a coach, “Seeing players succeed in the smallest aspects is even more rewarding that larger versions of success. It is a privilege to play such a role in improving, if only a very small part of someone’s day, week, month or life.”

Fuelling her love for AFL, Beth has overcome a scarcity of opportunities to play the game she grew up with under the influence of her father, a rabid Swans supporter.

Despite awards for Junior soccer, she jumped at the chance to join AFL in 2012 as a field umpire, later moving to play and coach for TVAFNC.

Asked what contributed to her award of AFL Canberra Women’s Second Grade Coach of the Year in 2023, she replied ‘as a Psychologist I understand the need to support people as well as performance. Successful teams play for each other. It’s important that we create a welcoming space for all women to enjoy the game.”
